Armenian Block Printed Fabric
Description
Any attempt to visualize the complete picture of Armenian culture would be vain without the splendid variety of crafts, particularly the block printing of fabric. The most prominent examples of this technique are the altar curtains of churches, while its broader diversity is hidden within Armenian medieval illuminated manuscripts, serving as their linings, thanks to which more than 200 samples presented in this book have reached us. The artistic renderings of these block-printed fabric patterns have been created by the book’s author, designer Armen Kyurkchyan. The photographs presented in the book were taken by Hrair Khatcherian.
The block-printed fabric patterns featured in this book are stored on the accompanying CD (174 jpeg files).
